Dezful City
:
Dezful With over 4100 sq km of area
is located in the North of Khozestan
province. This city is bordering
Andimeshk to the North ,
Masjed-e-Suleiman to the East , Ilam
to the West and Ahwaz to the South.

Historically Dezful is an old city
in which bricks for the first time
were widely used in construction of
various types of buildings . Due to
its traditional and natural
attraction , this city is one of
Iran's important cities. There was a
bridge constructed over the river
Dez in the Sassanids era (224-562
CE) in Dezful , hence the names
Dezpol ( in Persian pol means
bridge) , Dezhpol or Dezful were all
inspired by it.

The city of Dezhpol existed untile
mid 18th century and its remnants
bridge in thousands of visitors to
the city each year.
Choghamish :
The choghamish hills stand in a
plain about 40 Km Southeast of
Dezful. Archeological discoveries in
that area starting 1962 includde
pottery and clay as old as 5000 BC
belonging to Elamites and Parthians
. Evidence of some cemeteries from
the time of Sassanid dynasty were
also discovered in Choghamish.
The Old City of Jondi Shapoor :
The remnants of Jondi-Shapoor are
still on the left side of
Dezful-Shushtar Road about 10 Km
passed Dezful. This city was built
by Shapoor the First , king of
Sassanids dynasty (241-272 CE ) .
Civil infrastructure in
Jondi-Shapoor is similar to those od
the roman cantonments. Archeologists
believe that this city was founded
to home the roman captives
incorporating their own engineering
methods. City of . Jondi Shapoor's
academic universities played a
decisive role in the scientific
world of those days, and it lasted
until about 980 CE.
Agha Mir Room :
This semi-ruined structure is on
Aghamir Alley , Cyrus St , Dezful .
Aghamir Room is a 5 by 30 meter room
across from Aghamir water repository
( Ab-Anbaar-e-Aghamir).
Cornation Bath :
This bath is at the Dezful old
center. The technique of repeating
arcs tells us about the common style
of architecture used in those days.
Dezful Guesthouses (Karavansara-ha)
:
There were a few questhouses in
Dezful mostly from the time of
safavids of which the most important
ones were called Bazar and Ghandi ,
used by city merchants, storage
keepers and technocrats.
Dezful "Old Bridge" :
The old Bridge was reconstructed
over the foundations of a Sassanid
built bridge (226-651 CE ) to
connect western Dezful to its
eastern part. This bridge has 14
large openings to let the River Dez
flow underneath it. The old bridge
had been mended twice in Safavids
and Qajars eras.
Karkheh Old Bridge
(Pol-e-Ghadeem-e-Karkheh) :
Karkheh Bridge is located on
Dezhloran Road , North of New Iron
Bridge . There is evidence of a
wall, an opening , a thick column ,
a stone foundation with stucco,
mortar and shaved rocks . Naderi and
Paypol are some other names given to
this bridge . The historical
importance of this bridge is because
it had to be related to the Karkheh
Portico , connecting bridge's
northern sections to the river
starting points.
Raana or Roo-band Water Mills :
There is evidence of several roofs
made by a special type of cement
called sarooj over the cross section
of river Dez in western Dezful.
These relics said to be the old city
water mills called by locals Raana,
also Rooband mills.
Upper and Lover Galleh Gah Water
Mills :
Over the river Dez in northwestern
Dezful, ruins of three walls with
two inlet ports on the main wall and
a collapsed roof are the remnants of
these mills which said to have been
built in the Sassanid era. The upper
and lower mills are 300 meters
apart.
Religious Places of Dezful :
Dezful is known as one of the
country religious cities . There are
many old mosques and holly tombs
including Masjed Jaame , Saesaeh ,
Mian Darreh , Bazar Kohneh and Molla
Ali Shah.
Dezful Masjed Jaame :
Architectural style used in Masjed
Jaame goes back to the 10th century
repaired and renewed once in 1737 CE
in Safavid era along with adding a
portico to the mosque's eastern
side.

Tomb of Sabz-e-Ghaba :
Some say Sabz-e-Ghaba ( Green
garmented) was Imam Musa Kazem's son
who was Imam Reza's (the 8th Shiite
Imam) brother . The construction of
this building and its dome dates
back to the seljuq and Timurid
dynasties. The new tomb has been
recently reconstructed.
Tomb of Imam Jafar Tayar :
Tomb of Imam Jafar Tayar ( Imam
Ali's cousin and brother in law) is
about 6 Km away from Dezful.
Tomb of Shah Rokn-ul-Din :
Tomb of Seyed Ali son of Seyed
Baha-ul-Din also known as Shah
Rokn-ul-Din is at the eastern part
of Sahrabe-Dar area in Dezful. This
tomb was built in the Timurid
(1380-1501 CE) dynasty.

Tourist Atteactions :
Because of unique natural and
geographical position, Sezful has
always been a center of attraction.
The Dez clear water and its fertile
shores have led to providing a
pleasant environment for growing
oranges, including Taghi Khan Garden
, also natural caves called "Kat" by
locals , Shevey falls in
Northwestern Dezful , Abbasabad
Brake and Alikalleh regulatory dam
lake are some other suitable summer
resorts.
Shahyoun Island :
Shahyoun Island is in the Dez lake
about 45 Km away from Dezful. Both
the Island and the lake have
breathtaking scenery. Green high
hills in the North of the Island are
standing are standing
ostentatiously. On the eastern shore
where Shahyoun village lays, is the
boat terminal of the Island.
